"I'm not saying that putting on makeup will change the world or even your life, but it can be a first step in learning things about yourself you may never have discovered otherwise. At worst, you could make a big mess and have a good laugh." -Kevyn Aucoin
Happy 2017! I know I’m super late to the game, but better late than never. I’ve just been focusing on myself the past several months and rebuilding my life in a way that best suites me, once and for all. I’m on that self discovery and healing journey now. I may just start a blog based on that too. I’m still deciding.
Since I’ve been gone I realized that my love for beauty and makeup still stands strong. It’s something that I want to perhaps pursue further. Who knows? I’ll be posting my 2017 beauty very goals soon. With that being said, I wanted to share with you some of my go-to universal red lipsticks and products that are perfect for any holiday/occasion. Red lips are seen as both timeless and bold. You have to be very confident, in my opinion, to wear a red lipstick. I say this because it either works in my favor or against me whenever I wear it LOL.
I always applaud those who can wear a red lipstick often, because for me I only do it maybe a few times a year. Here are the products I wear whenever I’m in a timeless or bold mood. You’ll see that there’s a variety of drugstore and high end, as always. Most, if not all, are cool or blue toned since I gravitate towards those type of reds. I linked them down below so that you can get an idea of a price range and see what other colors they offer in the same formula if you’re not a red lip person.
I realize I’m posting this after Valentine’s Day, but it works right? I’ve been single for quite some time now so I like to treat myself to a bubble bath with red rose petals and maybe some chocolate. I LOVE taking flower baths. It’s just something that makes me feel whole and connected.
What did you do for Valentine’s Day? Let me know in the comment section below and also let me know what your favorite or go-to red lipstick is. Missed you all soo much and hope to see you real soon!
Welcome back to my blog! It’s been almost two months since I posted on here. I’ve missed it soo much! I’ve been on a personal journey of growth, learning, and transformation which has been one hell of a trip. I’m still debating about posting more on this, but all in all I’m just over here trying to live life. With that, I hope that you all are doing well and life is treating you with kindness.
So I was browsing through the vast world wide web and stumbled upon The Makeup Honey’s site where I discovered that she had made a Lip Lovin’ Tag. So I thought to myself, “I need a blog post and I’m addicted to anything that involves my lips so why not give this a shot?” Okay, I’ll willingly admit that this is a filler post, but I promise I’ll come up with something in a couple weeks. I just missed you all soo much that I wanted to come on here and give you a little something in the mean time, as well as check in.
Alright loves, here we go!
*DISCLAIMER: Pictures are not mine, I borrowed them from Google.*
1. What was the first lipstick you ever owned?
My first lipstick that I can remember would be a bright pink Wet N Wild lipstick from the 90’s. I must have been around 6-7 years old when I bought it. It was .99 cents and my Grandpa and I argued about me getting it because he thought I was too young for lipstick. I can still remember the scent and how it felt on my lips. I would have to say this was the birth of my lipstick/lip product addiction.
2. Which lip product has been the biggest disappointment?
I would have to go with a recent purchase and that is the Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme. I heard soo many good things and was soo bummed that it wasn’t the greatest. It’s a gorgeous color, but it just wore soo terribly on my lips. I’ll post an in depth review later.
3. Which lipstick is your holy grail product?
Wow, this is a tough one because I have a few favorites. I guess I’ll just have to go with MAC’s Velvet Teddy. I think it’s such a perfect nude color on me and such a classic lip that goes perfectly with almost any look. It’s never failed me.
4. Roughly how many lipsticks do you own?
I want to say between 150-200 and it’s still growing.
5. If you could only ever have 3 lip products for the rest of your life, which 3 would they be and why?
Hmm, my three would have to be MAC Velvet Teddy, Jordana Lip Liner in Rock n Rose, and MAC Lip Conditioner. My lips would be luscious and supple all the time. I think I could live with that.
6. Matte or glossy?
This is a hard one because I love both of them! It really depends on my mood and what I’m wearing. I can’t really give you an answer to this because I switch it up all the time. Sorry! Anyone else feel this way?
7. Which is the most expensive lipstick you own?
It would have to be my Chanel Coco Shine Hydrating Lipshine. It was my first high end lipstick purchase outside of MAC and I was soo excited to get it. I’ve had it for well over seven years now. No, I don’t use it, but I can’t see myself throwing away a lipstick that cost me $35+ LOL.
8. What is the cheapest lippie in your collection?
The cheapest would be my E.L.F. Matte Lip Color in Tea Rose. It was a couple bucks, but I barely use it due to the scent and taste. It has such an overpowering chemical with a hint of sweet I can’t stand it.
9. What is your favourite non lipstick lip product?
I would have to say chapstick or EOS lip balm for sure. I can’t have my life without any type of lip balm because I have super dry lips. I always have one with or near me. When I watched Napoleon Dynamite, I instantly fell in love with him because he understands my pain. Who else likes Napoleon Dynamite? Talk about a throwback.
10. What non traditional lip colour would you love to see come into fashion?
This is a tough question because I feel like there isn’t a lip color we haven’t seen. If anything, I wish wearing more non-traditional colors were acceptable. I would totally rock an olive or army green lippie if I could. With the work I do, it’s just not something I can imagine wearing. Thank God I can wear anything when I’m at home or on my personal time tho.
So, what did you think? I hope you found this somewhat enjoyable. I challenge anyone and everyone who reads this to do it since I can’t think of people right off the bat. I feel with tags that it should just be open to whoever wants to do it. Don’t you agree? As always, please leave me your thoughts and share your answers with me. I love interacting with you all! Again, hope life is treating you with kindness and until next time.
It’s finally here, the last day of a week of RawResilience. I’m sad that it’s coming to an end, but I’m sure some of you are tired of seeing my posts everyday LOL. I posted about my summer favorites, a review on an amazing product, celebrated my 1 year blogiversary, and wrote about my top nude lippies. Make sure you catch up on my blog posts during your free time. It’s honestly been a great week to reflect on the journey so far and I’m glad I was able to follow through with my personal challenge of posting daily. With that being said, today I bring you my makeup palette collection. This is a collection that has taken me years to grow and it’s not very much in my opinion. My collection consists of eyeshadow, highlight, and contour palettes.
I’m going to make this short since I’m sure all of you know about these palettes and have seen a multitude of pictures. As always, I’ll post a link of where you can purchase or find out more information about them. Also, I’ll link the photos of the swatches if I have any. The only palette I don’t have a picture of in this post is the Makeupgeek x Manny MUA collaboration because I’ve already talked about it. Click here to read it. Now that all of that has been said, let’s get into it!
Well that was quick and dirty wasn’t it? Again my collection is pretty small, but I’m working on expanding it. I’m trying to be more comfortable with buying a variety of palettes that can offer me multiple looks ranging from everyday glam to bold creative. I feel like majority of beauty gurus or enthusiasts have many, if not all of these palettes. What are some that you lovelies have? Let me know in the comment section below. Thank you for sticking with me the past week and I hope you all enjoyed a week of RawResilience. I’m not sure when I’ll be posting next, but I hope to see you all soon. Follow me on Instagram if you want to stay up to date with my latest beauty purchase or review. Until next time.
I’m sad to say that we’re almost at the end of a week of RawResilience. I hope you’ve been enjoying as much as I have. Yesterday I spent some time reflecting and looking back at my old blog. I couldn’t be happier with the growth and progress that I’ve made over the past year while being here on wordpress. If you want to see more of my thoughts and what my favorite posts have been so far click here.
Okay, on with today’s post. Today I bring you my favorite nude lippies. If you’ve been following me for a while or know me, you know I can’t resist a nude lippie. If you ever get a chance to look into my collection, I would say about 75% is all nude lip colors. You can’t beat the sheer natural beauty it brings and how it just completes a makeup look or makes you feel sexy. Now I must warn you by saying that I realize my “nudes” are mauves, but hey mauve is the new nude, right? You’ll see what I mean by the swatch photo below. Also, the names of the lippies are listed on the swatches. Product details are further down.
Alright, so I’m bringing you an extra treat by seeing how they look directly on my lips. I know I rarely do that, but since I’ve celebrated my 1 year blogiversary I figure why not switch it up? Are you ready? Let’s get it!
Now that you know what my face looks like up close and in depth, here’s the direct links of where you can find/buy my top nude lippies:
I hope you throughly enjoyed today’s post and my excess amount of selfies. Tomorrow will be the last day of a week of RawResilience. If you want to catch up on all of the post please make sure to check out my page. Also, please leave me a comment of which one of these nude lippies catches your eye and if you have any of them. Make sure you come back tomorrow to check out my makeup palette collection. Until then.
Welcome to Day 3, the reason for a week of RawResilience: my 1 year blogiversary! Cue the “yay” sound effect used in YouTube videos now with balloons dropping down and confetti gliding through the air and… Is that a little bit over the top? Probably, but I just can’t believe that it’s been a year since I’ve been on wordpress. Time sure does fly. Originally I was using blogspot when I first started blogging almost three years ago and then had to make the switch. You can read up the reason why I did with my first ever blogpost here. It was simply a user error on my end, but I’m glad I found my way to wordpress.
Here’s what my old site used to look like. I still think it’s cute, but I like what I have now 🙂
As I reflect and look back at my old site to see, I’ve noticed changes and growth. These are the following things that I’m able to spot out:
This blog has grown to have a organized, clean, and concise theme/look
I post more of a variety of topics related to beauty and makeup
The content posted not only interests me, but my readers as well
I’ve been able to show more of my personality through my writing
There seems to be more confidence in my writing style in general, even though I still have some grammatical challenges
I am extremely proud to be able to see these changes and am so grateful that I have found an outlet for my creativity. I see my blog as being something that I can recharge my passion for life in and gives me motivation to continue pushing forward. In the future, I’m thinking about writing an in depth post on how I feel this blog truly holds a piece of my soul, for the better. Honestly, this blog keeps me going and provides me a safe space where I can just unwind and let it all go. I’m sure I can’t be the only blogger who feels this way.
With that being said, here are some of my most memorable or favorite posts that I would love for you to check out sometime. Please make sure to leave me a comment saying that a week of RawResilience sent you.
Welcome to Day 2 of a week of RawResilience. Today I’m bringing you a much deserved review on the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water & Makeup Remover. I know this product has been out for quite some time now, but I didn’t purchase it until recently as it became available to us much later than most. If you don’t know, here in Hawaii we tend to get a lot of things after the fact on our shelves compared to other places in the U.S. Yes, I could’ve purchased this from an online store such as Ulta, but I like to wait to hear the facts, reviews, and tips most times before I make a purchase on a new trending beauty product. Here’s a better picture of the product if you aren’t familiar or just want a little bit of that beauty/makeup porn action.
A lot of times I don’t fall into the hype and mostly wait until the it’s died down to try it, however I do make some exceptions here and there. Okay, I’ll go ahead and take out some of the suspense of this post by saying that this product is AMAZING. I just can’t take it anymore. I can’t believe how it actually works and why it’s able to do as much as it claims to. This product claims to be as follows from the description on the website “This all-in-1 cleanser is surprisingly powerful yet gentle to skin. It effectively removes makeup, cleanses skin and refreshes. A multi-purpose cleanser that contains Micellar technology. Like a magnet, micelles capture and lift away dirt, oil and makeup without harsh rubbing, leaving skin perfectly clean, hydrated and refreshed without over-drying.” It also claims that you can use it on your face, eyes, and lips. When I read that I just had to put it to the test as you can see from the photo below.
As you can see, I clearly had a full face of makeup with some intense and pigmented colors, so for it to remove it the way it did was a gift from the makeup gods. I poured some Micellar Cleansing Water on a couple of cotton pads to remove the eye makeup and then poured some directly onto a baby wipe to have more free range at removing my makeup. Here’s the baby wipes and cotton pads I used.
I can’t begin to describe how it worked wonders for my face and how it left my skin feeling so incredibly smooth, soft, and refreshed. I feel like I gotten more makeup removal with the help of the Micellar Cleansing Water than I ever had with a makeup removing wipe or stand alone baby wipe. I didn’t have to rub hard and didn’t feel like I had any residue left on my face. It really just did it’s job of getting deep into the layers of my skin and pores. Also, it was able to remove my waterproof makeup, which it doesn’t claim to do. There is a waterproof version of this. Click here to view it on Garnier’s website.
I have oily/combo/sensitive skin and for a product to do the work without irritating my skin wins major points. Another thing is that you can’t beat the price for a product as good as this. From doing some research it seems that prices range from roughly $7-10 USD depending on the site. I got mines for almost $10 USD at my local Longs (CVS.) I can thank living in paradise for that, but I don’t even care because it was worth every penny. I use this almost daily and it doesn’t seem to have made a huge dent from when I bought it a couple weeks ago. I’m sure this will last a good while.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with this product and it is definitely going to be a holy grail. That sentence right there speaks for itself. If you’re someone who is interested in trying out a cleansing water, I’d go out and hunt for this if I were you. It’s my first and probably the only one I’ll be purchasing from now on. I would however like to see what the waterproof version does to see if there’s any difference. If it just amps up what it does already, I might just make it my boyfriend and marry it. Yes, that’s how much I am loving this product.
Do you have the Micellar Cleansing Water or any cleansing waters? What is your favorite and what do you like most about it? Comment down below and let me know. I may be openminded into trying something new *wink.* I know, I had to add it in there didn’t I? Hope you’re enjoying a week of RawResilience so far and I’ll be back tomorrow to celebrate my 1 year Blogiversary. I hope you’ll join me. Until next time.
Welcome back to my blog and welcome to a week of RawResilience. I am soo excited to be doing a full week of blogposts and celebrating my blogiversary. I hope you’ll find the upcoming content helpful, interesting, or inspiring to you and your beauty journey. What I mean by beauty journey is either you discovering or continuously finding your passion for beauty and makeup. The journey we go through is like any other where we find ourselves feeling extremely lustful about makeup and beauty, then in the same token feeling indifferent or uninterested in what’s out there. I personally believe that we all go through these phases and that it’s completely normal. Just like everything else in life we feel the same towards.
Okay, let me just hang up my philosophical hat up for a moment and talk about what you came here for, my summer favorites. This past summer here in Hawaii has been a really strange one where we’ve seen more rainy, humid days than sunny, beach days. All thanks to our friend, hurricane season. Typically hurricane season here is from summer to fall, but we never notice until we get closer to fall. I know what you must be thinking if you’re not from Hawaii or experience tropical weather, you wouldn’t think we experience all of the seasons as many do, but we in fact do in our own special way.
With that being said, this summer I had to really pull out some products that I knew were going to stick and not make me look like a sweaty raccoon so most of these babies are my go-to for ensuring I stay fabulous all day long. I don’t think majority of these products claim to be long-lasting, but they work wonders for me and my oily/combo/sensitive skin. As you may have noticed from the image of this post, I have A LOT of summer favorites. But we can go ahead and be real by saying these are pretty much my favorites in general after my experiences with them this summer.
So with that let’s get into the products already! Geez, I need to lessen some of my wording down. I’ll post what the products are by how I normally do my makeup/beauty routine and give a little more detail if I feel it needs any. Also, I’ll post the links on the product so you can find out more info if you’re interested. The links attached doesn’t mean I purchased them from that specific website.
Whoo! That was a long list huh? I know I feel like it took me forever to type it all up and add the links on where you can either purchase them or find out more information. Anything for my blog and readers. I hope you enjoyed my summer favorites and let me know what your summer favorites are. Also, let me know if you have some of these and how they work for you too. I love hearing from you all.
Alright, Day 1 down and 4 more to go! Be on the look out tomorrow for my Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water & Makeup Remover Review. If you want to see what else I’ll be talking about this week make sure you check out my previous post here. I hope you’ll stick around to help me celebrate my blogiversary and I’ll check back in with you tomorrow.
